They're gorgeous! I love castles like that . . . They look so mysterious, and I think I'd need to go exploring if I were there!

If you want to see castles take a cruise down the Rhein. The way it was explained to me was the castles were like toll booths on the river. When a boat was going down the river they were stopped by people wanting money to pass. If they didn't pay up the soldiers in the castles would shoot cannon fire down upon them. Or at least that is what I was told.

So there are dozens of castles along the Rhein River in Germany.
